Intro screen. Code or not to code?

Hey đŸ‘‹

This vibrant and warm shot is about documentation, the one that usually perceived as boring and quite formal. This time, we decided to take another route and grant our customers of Foodly Shopify theme with delightful experience through helpful content and eye-pleasant apparel.

This shot has also another background. It is a beginning of me trying to code something from scratch by myself.

This dilemma if designers should code or not has been here for ages. And, probably it still thrives on the web and in minds of majority of digital designers. I have been among adherents who believe that designers should understand the code and be familiar with it but no necessarily code themselves. Everything has changed recently and here's me trying to write code line by line in the text editor đŸ˜‚

At first, it seems frustrating and confusing because there are lots of nuances you don't know yet, and your toolkit is filled up only with a wooden hammer when others are using automated machines for their craft. But I'm trying to keep going and ignore such thoughts otherwise it would even harder in succeeding a new design tool.

What do you think about this issue? Should designers code? Are you among those unicorns who tackle visuals and transform them into code? What are the main reasons designers skip coding?

Please, share your thoughts in the comments :)
