Thar' she brews..! Off to the presses with you!
A typographic poster, designed on behalf of New York Writes Itself, for the upcoming show "NEW YORK TYPES" @ the Art Directors Club in NYC.
The poster will be letter-pressed in a limited edition of 10 prints, and on display, along with the work produced by a great group of artists & designers at the ADC Gallery (Dec. 15 - Jan. 6).
Stay tuned for the actual print > I'll post a shot of it when I get my hands on a proof. In the meanwhile, large preview > ATTACHED

This turned out so well.
Knew it would. Looking forward to see it printed!
Excellent work, Michael!
V.cool Spitzernator :)
I dig that Ampersand and A thing going on!
This is bloody gorgeous. I love it.
and the pieces come together!
Nice! Any specific reason for the Greek-yness of the border and "large"?
Thanks so much guys!!
@Dennis - The 'Greek' styling pays homage to the iconic blue & white Anthora coffee cups introduced back in the 1960s. Sadly its designer passed away last year, but there's a great read about the history of the cup > HERE
So New York. (And I've never been. But I knew about the "Greek" cups that have proliferated NYC for decades.)
@Brad - Cheers! One of my favorite quotes from that article:
Without the Anthora, “Law & Order” could scarcely exist.
Ah right on, I get the reference now. Good read, sad to hear. Been a New Yorker my whole life, but never a coffee drinker...not that there's anything wrong with that.
@Dennis - Nothing at all ;)
Man this is the sickest type design yet! So jealous about it being in a show! Wish I could get a print! Keep it up Mike!
holy crap, so cool! Loved reading about the Anthora too.
Turned out great, man. I think you stole Raja's logo though....kidding.
Stellar, dude! Congrats on the entry to the show, would love to see them all.
Awesome work Michael, really good to see all these elements come together! Congratulations on the show too, sounds terrific.
