Sometimes I sit and I draw and I don't know where I'm going. I hear this situation a lot from other artists, this empty state of flaneur-like wandering towards a cathartic discovery. "You have to UNTHINK!" They say. "Go where your unconscious guides you!" they claim. 9 times out of 10 this methodology does nothing for me beside fill my sketchbook with doodles I don't care about. I like having at least a kernel of an idea when I'm making something - a tiniest of framework to set my watch to.

This drawing is a result of a lack of kernel. I don't give a shit about this drawing. Though I like the image thats evoked by saying kernel and shit in the same breath. Bleh.

But I take a step back and it's kind of cool. What do you think?
