Food Typography for Cookbook

A first attempt at food typography! In 2015, I decided to create a cookbook for my senior BFA project about food from Guam (my grandma's homeland). It's called "I Nengkanno' Guåhan" (The Food of Guam) and you can check it out on my portfolio site if you like food and culture.

But back to the story! To make the cookbook, I collected old recipes from family, re-wrote them all (they were not easy to follow since most of the food is cooked by memory), cooked, photographed, and designed the entire book and cover. Needless to say, it was extremely exhausting. My original plan was a minimum of 30 recipes and I barely made it to 16 because I had four months to do it all.

I wanted to incorporate some type of lettering in the book but never had the time. And as I discovered today, it's incredibly tedious and almost drove me mad. Ingredients used are limited to those present in the cookbook, so the colors are limited but the concept has extra meaning.
