I was approached by the University of Leicester to create an advent calendar for their Christmas social media campagin. Every door reveals either a story about the University from 2016, a Christmas event happening on campus or a competition to win prizes!
The project was a fun challenge (including a very tight deadline); it was interesing balancing the fun elements like the animating snow and randomising the boxes everytime the page refreshes against performance, ensuring the page was kind to users! I managed to lazyload everything in the popups including the YouTube videos and managed to get the page weight down from 1.3MB to 700KB and page speed down from over 7 seconds to 1 second (excluding Google Analytics.)
