Had a blast animating these characters for a logo reveal for Plexus Pinball Arcade.
It was an interesting process because I heavily relied on Cinema4D's physics engine to drive the animation. All of the faces were keyframed AE shape layers, but the pinballs were simulated in 3D environment that matched each sequence.
When a pinball was simulated in Cinema4D I would export a simple black and white buffer pass which played overtop my 2D animation, saving me from a lot of manual guesswork!
