Card Sorting is a great way to create hierarchy for the information architecture of a site. In card sorting, contents or elements are written on index cards. Participants are asked to group similar cards into corresponding categories. Within each category, the cards are placed according to the participant’s personal hierarchy or preference. Card sorting is helpful in organizing the structure of a website, deciding which content is more valuable for users, and helping label within navigations. It can be a generative method to help guide a product.
