Onboarding buds

I've been working with the Kindness.org team in London/New York to help develop the brand a little further. This is a stab at some onboarding illustrations to help people get the gist of the platform.

It was a tricky one because kindness is sort of undefinable. Kindness can be anything and everything. We didn't want to make the characters human because it would be a little too polarizing and we want the site to reach over all kinds of nationalities and races. So we originally presented a bunch of robots but the team was worried about the coldness connotation. Went back to the literal drawing board and came up with these little characters. They aren't super definable (except the phone person) so they fit right into this emotional blob that is kindness. And they use some of the textures that we've developed elsewhere in the brand.

To make these guys we just sat down and drew a ton of shapes. No real goal in mind. Some blobs, triangles, circles, then some feet, then some eyes and just mashed em all up. Details in the attachment.
