This self-promotional illustration was sent to the U.S. Chess Federation to solicit illustration work. To my great delight, it resulted in an immediate commission to produce the cover illustration for the June 2016 issue of Chess Life Kids. The entire start-to-finish process, from self-promotion creation, to finished magazine cover took 4 days (including 1 really, really late night). I’ll follow up with the June Chess Life Kids cover once the magazine is publicly available.
