DuoDict - My self built app

Hi guys!

I spent my last 4 months learning Swift with the goal to build an app by my own and I'm happy to share with you that the app finally (after several rejections) is available on the Apple App Store! http://bit.ly/24fDJzs

So why the hell did I code it by myself?

• I got tired of working on concepts and wanted to make something which is not just a fancy animation what people can like, makes no sense at all and would take 1 month and a heart attack just to code it.

• If you work on a product you often want to enrich the UX by adding some micro interactions, sounds etc. and as a product designer what I used to hear a lot from developers is: "Ahh man it takes days to code" and from the product owner is that: "It's not that important, we gonna add it later." Now… I know that all those things were b@llshit and could have been added within an hour max.

• As a designer I think it's necessary to know the boundaries of a design you wish to implement (eg. do not try to add a "hover" effect in iOS). I also wanted to know how difficult is to make a custom segue (the transition between views when you switch), how much effort does it take to create a custom controller for example.

• there are like 10 more things but I guess I'll share it a blog post later.

It's definitely a hobby project with an MVP product with no fancy onboarding screens and things like that… but its there and of course I'd like to add all those features later.

Take care guys and thanks a lot if you download the app and test it out, maybe leave a feedback or something. Cheers!
