Dribbble’s New ToS is a PoS.
After 14 years as a paying Pro member on this platform, I just canceled my Dribbble subscription.
Why?
Because the new Terms of Service strip designers of their professional autonomy.
Dribbble is now forcing all business inquiries, communication, and payments to go through their platform, effectively inserting themselves as a middleman in our client relationships. And they’re removing all external links from our profiles and shots — regardless of whether we pay for a Pro membership.
A portfolio platform should amplify designers, not control them. This isn’t about protecting designers from scams; it’s about protecting Dribbble’s bottom line.
And let’s be real: this is just the final nail in the coffin. Dribbble has been in steady decline for years, devolving from a hub of inspiration and creative ingenuity into a soulless graveyard of algorithm-chasing drivel and engagement-baiting nonsense. The quality of work has never been lower, the community has never been more lifeless, and now, the platform wants to lock in whatever scraps of relevance it has left by forcing designers into a walled garden.
If you value your freedom to do business on your own terms, it might be time to reconsider whether Dribbble is still working for you — or just working you.
Own your autonomy and cancel your Pro membership today.
Also, if you are unhappy with these new terms, please feel free to rebound this shot and display your displeasure.
