🔌 Instagram Algo Reset
Are you tired of your Instagram content? A few days ago, I read in the news that Instagram is developing a feature allowing users to reset their algorithms to favor different types of content. I believe this is a highly requested feature — I don’t remember ever being interested in Formula 1, yet it seems to dominate my “Explore” feed nowadays.
With that in mind, I wanted to suggest how this functionality to “reset your algorithm” might look.
What if Instagram automatically prompted a banner every three months, giving users a chance to correct their feed?
While a periodic prompt might seem counterproductive since it doesn’t allow users to choose when to reset, it could be the most user-friendly approach compared to hiding the option deep in the settings menu. I also imagine that “resetting” an algorithm requires substantial computing resources, so Instagram might prefer to control this process rather than leave it entirely up to users.
So, Instagram, if you’re listening, here’s my UI exploration of this upcoming feature. Feel free to take it!
