ARTMIX - Lipstick Motion Poster

For more years than I care to count, Shaun Slaughter's Lipstick events have been a nightlife institution in Sacramento. A dance party that feels smartly curated and breaks new sounds while also respecting and nodding to the ones we already love. Years ago, when the party turned 14 years old, I designed a poster (the second image here) for that event which used visual references to the breadth of it's many playlists and tied it all together with a couplet from classic BritPop anthem "Do You Remember the First Time?" by Pulp. I was thrilled to be asked to return for the poster for tomorrow night's Lipstick retrospective at Crocker Art Museum's Artmix event and I decided to bookend the 14th anniversary poster with another lyric from that same Pulp song.
