Dispatch App Icon

It's not often we get to draw an icon for something that has such a rich visual history as firefighting. While we typically avoid red in icons due to their emergent nature, it was exactly right for this kind of project.

We started with the Maltese Cross—a traditional symbol found in many logos for firehouses and departments. Though traditional, it can be seen as outdated, especially for a modern iOS app. We created a bold, simpler, and rounder Maltese Cross for the fire symbol to sit inside.

The fire symbol itself is comprised of two individual flame shapes that overlap, though their colors average to be a single shape.
