The case discusses the problem of transferring user attribution in the context of downloading RMG apps from independent websites. Two approaches were considered to solve this problem: creating custom apks for each landing page with attribution built-in, and taking user input post-signup to identify user motivation. A/B testing was conducted, and the results showed that the control variant performed better than both approaches. Users preferred discovering their game of choice among the 20 games on the home screen rather than providing input. This approach may be more beneficial for platforms with a larger content repository.
