Redesign application

The Problem

A number of questions from the question set in the application were completed by too few users. The percentage of users who saved their wishes in My Monuta was also too low. The application was also outdated in terms of technology (Mendix) and the corporate identity needed to be updated.

UX process

  • I started with Usability Testing to find out what users thought of the old application. What did they encounter in the application and why were certain questions skipped or answered poorly?

  • I also collected quantitative data, such as data from Mouseflow, Hotjar and Google Analytics and did some Competitive research.

  • I processed the results from the research into an Affinity Diagram to organize the data into logical groups. I then divided the groups into a Customer Journey Map, so that I had a clear picture of the improvements per screen.

  • I started by creating a moodboard. After consultation with product owners and stakeholders, I started with a low fidelity prototype.

  • After collecting feedback, I ultimately developed the design into a high-fidelity prototype and prepared it for developer handoff.

Design improvements

  • I applied more visual hierarchy by using the 8pt grid.

  • Because it is a sensitive topic, I have adjusted the phrasing of a number of questions so that it is less confrontational for users.

  • Instead of one question per screen, I made it 1 flow to encourage completion.

  • To improve the completion rate, I have added a progress bar.

  • To encourage the completion of funeral wishes, I have added social proof elements to further encourage users.

  • Unnecessary questions have been deleted to shorten the completion time.

  • To encourage saving in My Monuta, I have additionally confirmed the importance of saving.

  • To make it more interesting for users, I have added extra elements, such as being able to share funeral wishes with loved ones, adding music tracks via Spotify and adding extra personal wishes.
