Connecting Gamers with Bravo Squad

Connect, play, win: Creating a social platform that brings gamers together

Leading the charge

When it comes to online gaming, connecting with like-minded players has become more important, and yet somehow more difficult. Bravo Squad is my mobile application designed to address this challenge.

Where'd it go wrong?

Over 85% of surveyed gamers face challenges in finding people to play with and 71% said they would consider using an app to help them find people to play with. The most desired features were the ability to find a group to join (85%), finding new friends to play with (85%), finding someone to join their group quickly (71%), and knowing what kind of people they were going to play with (71%).

Bare bones

Now that we have an idea of what we need in the app, let's throw some bones together and see what we come up with. I ripped out my trusty iPad and went to town with ideas and wireframes. I also studied well-researched user experience from apps such as the Xbox mobile app, Instagram and Marriott's Bonvoy.

Fleshing it out a bit...

Let's clean these up a bit and start adding some other quality of life features. How about we let users link their platforms quickly during sign up? We can also make adding games to their library easy and make setting their schedule simple too.

I can do this all day...

After the first round of testing, I got some feedback that there's too much to do in the sign up flow and that the first screen was a little cluttered. Users also mentioned that the dashboard was too busy and that my "Join" and "Invite" buttons were too confusing. Perfect! Let's get rid of some buttons and fields from the first two pages of the sign up flow, kill the messages button from the top third of the dashboard and change the color of the "Invite" button.

They've got everything in here!

Finally, let's address the features that will make Bravo really shine!

Player Commendations: Users can rate and commend teammates for positive traits. Users can see these commendations on the profile page.

Session Scheduling: Future gaming sessions can be planned and joined quickly. Users can use custom notifications so they never miss gaming session with their friends.

Quick Invite and Quick Join: One touch buttons for inviting friends or joining ongoing games.

To sum it up...

Bravo Squad aims to improve the gaming experience by ensuring you find the right team for your goals. Better communication and coordination means less headaches, a more satisfying gaming sessions, and the ability to create your own community of gaming friends.

Thanks for checking out my work!
