Overcoming the Design Challenge

Reaching the state of the art of UX/UI of the current century for software that was grown by stakeholders and developers with minds on design stuck at a time when user interface design as a research discipline didn't exist could beā€¦ a challenge.

Embracing Guidelines and Psychology

There are numerous reasons why we should align ourselves with Nielsen and Norman's guidelines, incorporating principles of product psychology and striving for an aesthetically pleasing overall appearance. However, it is not feasible to make an overnight transition from the current state to where it should be, considering both project management and implementation perspectives, as well as the shocking user experience of waking up to a completely unfamiliar environment.

Balancing Change and Familiarity

To address this, we are taking incremental steps to update our system. Through the introduction of new features, I am gradually evolving the software's appearance from its dated 1990s look towards a modern interface.
