Quick search - Workspace

➑️ Workspace is a platform where corporate employees get secure access to apps, remote desktops, integrations, and files from one space.

➑️ Project goal was to establish a vision for a quick & federated search that allows users to search across multiple systems of records by a relevancy-ranked list of results.

➑️ 3 key design patterns to note:

πŸ‘‰ Users tend to type first, only then narrow search contexts.

Testing showed that adding context before the query didn't perform well, so context pills were replaced with advanced search affordance.

πŸ‘‰ Removed the number of results.

Different data sources were loading results at different speeds, hence the number was always changing and adding friction to the scanning UX.

πŸ‘‰ One list of results over sectioned lists.

Testing showed that sectioned search results tend to hide relevant results below. E.g. When you need to find a file, but the first section is always "Apps", then your needed file would always require scrolling down to find it.
