The adventures of Mrs Owl

For this week's @Design Cuts' tutorial, I got to play with the extensive textures, patterns and backgrounds bundle to create a book cover for "The adventures of Mrs Owl."

The process piece focuses extensively on texture work and layering, but also shares a few tips and tricks to add more depth to flat illustrative elements.

I had a lot of fun putting that one together. Its bold and colorful palette is a leap from my usual, more subdued choices.

It was also a perfect time for me to give Majesti Banner (designed by @Joe Prince) a test run. It's a beautiful typeface, with plenty of gorgeous alternate characters and flourishes.

You can have a closer look at the piece in the attachments, including a non-cropped to 6"x9" version.

I hope you'll like the tutorial.
