Case Study: Gringegalgona Merinos Logo Design

Background:

Gringegalgona Merinos is a stud business established in 1949 that produces fine merino wool for next-to-skin wear. The company breeds rams with high-quality genetics and does not practice mulesing, which has resulted in happy and profitable sheep. The client requested a logo that incorporates the name "Gringegalgona Merinos" or the letter "G" and has a poll merino design. The logo must not feature horns, and the preference is to have wool fibers instead of a ram's head. The client also provided previous logos and photos of poll merino rams for inspiration.

Design Process:

As the designer, I created a retro badge logo with a unique oval shape. The top and bottom parts of the badge are modified to make it distinct from other badges. I incorporated a detailed illustration of a poll merino's profile face and upper body, with the color of the merino being a goldish-yellow and the face being masculine white. The wool fibers are used in the background of the logo. I chose a bold, slab serif, font for the company name to make it legible and memorable.

Outcome:

Conclusion:

Designing a logo that represents a company's values and history is a challenging task. As the designer, I considered the client's requirements, inspiration, and design principles to create a logo that is unique, memorable, and effective. I created a retro badge logo that incorporates a poll merino design and wool fibers in the background. The logo is bold, legible, and reflects the company's values and history. It is a successful logo design that meets the client's requirements and enhances the company's brand identity.
