Evergreen - Thomas Austin

When Tom asked me to work on single artwork and subsequently his album artwork, my answer was an immediate, “Absolutely.” Working with friends has its pros and cons, but creating artwork for someone whose music I stan over was a no-brainer.

We met at a local coffee shop and hashed out some ideas for what the artwork would look like. We decided that having the same ‘Evergreen’ tree positioned in the center of the artwork would be a good start. Tom’s idea was to have the setting shift with every song, seasonally, of course.

The tree represents standing firm, yet subtly adapting to the constant change that occurs when the seasons of life progressively shift. Life is full of change, and whether we like it or not, we often don’t recognize the change that’s occurred within us until it has already been completed.

Using a hand-drawn, scanned-in Evergreen tree as the focal point along with some paper textures and other hand-drawn elements matches the no-fuss, straight-up, earnest quality of the songwriting.

It’s safe to say that I really liked this project.
