Webbased Project Management Tool for Steel Construction Company

A steel construction company requests a customized intranet, a web application for optimizing, controlling, and analyzing its digital business processes focusing on project management.

Problem

Our client has no project management software. Projects are managed file-based on the data server. All project information is redundantly recorded in different tools or transferred manually.

Process

To find out the detailed requirements and scope, we conduct workshops for joint development. The goal is to get to know the processes of our client in detail.

In a second step, we develop a proof of concept including the technical specifications based on the results.

As a third and final step, I create the design of the prototype in Adobe XD.

Define

We define a minimal viable product with the following basic functionalities: project, file, task, address, and appointment management, time recording on the project, client and employee, project control (planning and monitoring), reporting tools.

Design

Our solution is a responsive web application. The key element of the intranet is the dashboard (s. first image), technically the start page. It serves as the "control centre" where users get an overview.

Due to different authorisation levels and user needs, the layout and functionality may vary. The areas are handled as widgets and can be moved by drag and drop.
