The Los Angeles Public Library is celebrating its 150th Anniversary and we got the chance to work with the library in conjunction with Gallery 1988 to create a poster celebrating 150 books for 150 years. The poster includes exactly 150 titles representing a range of books from classics to modern releases. In the spirit of our Icon series of the past, this poster gave us an opportunity to re-approach the icon concept but in the form of a bookcase and a variety of book spines and covers.
The poster made its debut at the gallery along with many other works of art celebrating classic books. The poster is a huge 24” x 36” four-color screen print on 100 lb Cougar Natural cover stock, and with a signed and numbered artist edition of 100 prints. Check out our initial sketch below along with photos of the finished print. The L.A. Public Library 150th Anniversary Poster is now available in the DKNG store.
