Tesla Interface Concept

The Tesla concept by Bureau Oberhauser inspired us to update the UI design for our QNX CES Maserati concept car. We wanted to combine the clean graphics and customizable aspect of the Bureau's design with our concept's emphasis on primary actions and usability.

Driver distraction is a big concern for us and we combat it by distilling top-level actions as much as possible. For example, a driver should only worry about playing/pausing their music and skipping tracks while they are in motion. We implemented a gesture-based control scheme that lets the user execute these actions without looking at the screen; tap anywhere to play/pause, swipe anywhere left and right for next and previous track.

The energy app is occupying the short-view slot which means that it only shows glanceable information. The user can put any app into the short-view area which allows for user-customization without making the screen too busy.
