Tumblr App Icon Playoff

Felt a little bit of artist’s block, so I thought I might give this a whirl to finally “finish” something creative again.

The icon rebalances the classic Tumblr “t” to be a bit more geometric than typographic, while the colours are meant to have the app icon stand out in a crowded space without being obtrusive. The soft glass effect gives the icon a certain lightness despite being bold.

Composited together, everything provides an abstraction of what tumblr is meant to be: a space for expression and creativity, both deep and heavy, but light and cheerful at the same time—all that with a healthy dash of magic.
