Doggo Walking Co. | A Dog Walking App Case Study

Empathize

After speaking with three dog owners in one on one interviews, common themes were trust, reliability, scheduling and planning for worst case situations.

1. Building trust with new dog or using existing family or friend that they already had established trust.

2. Dog Walkers needs to be that will be on-time and reliable.

3. To reduce stress or inconvenience during Dog Owner’s workday, having alternative trusted solutions set in place if Dog Walker cancels.

4. Scheduling ahead of time is a must for Dog Owner’s who have a consistent work schedule and like planning. They want to set up weekly walks and not worry.

Define

The Problem

Dog Owner’s want to be able to find trustworthy and reliable Dog Walkers who have been thoroughly vetted by the app while utilizing tools to help the Dog Walker and Dog Owner safely establish a secure and safe connection.

Dog Owner’s want to reduce stress and worry around scheduling and cancellations so they can trust things will go as planned during there work day while their dog is safe with someone.

How can we build trust and improving the flow of scheduling and cancellations?

User Persona

Based on feedback received by Dog Owners on current needs and competitor reviews, the persona of Patrick was created to align with busy individuals who need reliable and trustworthy dog walkers who can be vetted and planned into their set schedule.

Ideate

To start the process of ideating, I began with working with User Flows to map out the sign-up/ log-in process. After that I moved into two rounds of wireframing ideation.

Visual Design + Mock Ups

After wireframes were reviewed, I moved into more of the branding, design elements and final mock ups for the app focusing on creating a design system and component library to keep organized.

First started with brainstorming branding and design with finalized mood board below:

Once mood board was guiding the design direction, I create Design System, Component Library and Final Mock Ups.

The process was a little scattered as I started with initial mock ups, then moved on to the design system and then went back and revised the mock ups to make everything cohesive.

The Final Mock Ups

Along with designing the final mock ups, some additional edits were made to functionality and interaction to keep focused on the personas needs.
