Specimen VI

Unknown Specimens is a series of biomorphic abstractions that reflect the reoccurring patterns found in nature, in particular those found in the microscopic world, highlighting this unseen world around us. The organic forms are familiar, but can be interpreted in different ways as they hover somewhere between representation and abstraction. Playing with the unpredictable quality of alcohol inks and watercolour, imaginary cellular ecosystems begin to evolve.  The ink underneath then serves as a reference for building up the piece through increasingly controlled layers with each mark informing the next.
