Maison Y

Hello dribbblers!

A logo for an upcoming boutique hotel called Maison Y (pronounced “ee-grec” in French).

We were tasked with creating a logo that drew inspiration from the Art Deco period, modern sharp lines with an emphasis on simplicity and symmetry. The client wanted a logo that incorporated a brandmark that could be used individually for embroidery, printing and as a pattern.

We knew from the the get-go that we wanted to incorporate the M and Y in the brandmak so that it was recognisable. We wanted something elegant and Art Deco inspired without it looking too cliché. Hence, we decided to use Futura for the wordmark which gives a modern, sleek look and contrasts nicely with the Art Deco inspired brandmark.

How did we help?

— We conducted market research to identify how to best position the brand.

— We defined a new brand strategy that draws inspiration from the 1920-30s.

— We redesigned the logo from scratch.
