Longplay Case Study

Longplay is a new kind of cannabis company—one that prioritizes sustainable cultivation practices and offers consumers cannabinoid choices in every channel from coast-to-coast. They've driven to build relationships and create memorable experiences through partnerships with iconic musicians, brands and more.

With cultivation, manufacturing and retail capabilities in the state of Colorado, advanced intellectual property controls and a beloved portfolio of brands that includes Willie Nelson’s top-selling and nationally recognized products, Longplay is the next evolution of the cannabis industry with efficient vertical integration, licensing opportunities and hard-won capabilities in every position.

My Role

I came onto this project to imagine the brand. We had a great name with a lot of thematic consistency and I needed to breathe some live into it.

Here are some later draft logo designs before the type was fully dialed in.

The idea that really came to the forefront of my design process was a record crate. So I worked on ways to visually distill that image down to the most bare bones design down to its core visual indicator. The least amount of detail needed to clearly get the idea across.

Rough Drafts

And here's a collection of some of the rough ideas I had early on that didn't make the cut.
