Logo Design for Comunidad de la Noche

Organic logo concept for a craft candle company created in collaboration with homeless artisans.

The client envisioned a playful, never-seen-before logo that celebrates the artists’ community and the magic of nighttime while avoiding being seen as a charity brand.

The brand’s target audience is adults looking for products that aren’t manufactured commercially and have an appreciation for the talent and experience of the creatives behind hand-made pieces.

I decided on a hand-drawn combination mark that emphasizes the brand’s artistic aspect. It features vintage depictions of a hand holding a candle, a rose with a thorn, and a drop of blood.

The layout of the illustration and type is unique and the sans serif font conveys friendliness and approachability. The dominating colors are burnt orange – a symbol of pride, and a greyish-blue (livid) that symbolizes the segregation that homeless artists experience in their lives and careers.
