Keycare Illustrations

Hey y'all! Another case study here. These are some illustrations we did for an upcoming site for Keycare. They provide an app for those suffering with illness and usually these people are in an older demographic. We wanted the main illustrations to show people doing regular life activities to show that through Keycare you can now live a normal life.

Getting Sketchy

We usually begin the illustration process with research and moodboarding and then once we have an approved direction from the client we start to sketch!

In this case we wanted our sketches to be a solid stepping stone for the final vector so we took a little extra time to make sure all the proportions were correct. In some cases you could just scribble your ideas down and they don't have to be perfect. But with this project we decided to plan the composition and the details in this phase.

Now we move to vectorizing. With a solid sketch this process was fairly easy because we worked heavily off the initial sketch.

We wanted to give these illustrations a more "imperfect" look than just having these crispy, smooth vectors. We decided to add some brush stroke overlays and a roughen effect on the illustration overall. We felt like this "hand painted" look would resonate a bit more with our target audience.

Style Guides

The client requested that we make a little style guide if they ever needed to replicate this style.

We teamed up and put together the most important requirements for this specific style.

We could've added a lot more information but we didn't want the guide to be overwhelming. Sometimes less is more.

By referencing previous illustrations and our simple guide we are confident those trying to replicate this style would be able to do so with ease.

This last step is the cherry on top 🍒

These two brush stroke patterns overlaid on top of the illustrations really tie everything together and give it a unified look.

That's all Folks!

With all of that being said, here are some more examples of what we did for Keycare. Hope y'all enjoyed!
