Tenez - a Typeface work in progress by Plau

The word Tenez gave origin of the word Tennis.
And now it's the name for our latest work-in-progress.
It's not hard to notice I'm a big fan of the sport and its cultural heritage.

In this case, the visuals cues are taken from the elegance by which names like Lacoste, Laver, Billy Jean King and other greats from the past roamed the court.

The same elegance by which contemporaries such as Federer play the game.
This translates visually into a high-contrast, rhythmic textured, organic serif typeface. I was impacted full-on by the visit to Wimbledon's Tennis museum, with its amazing memorabilia full of woodtype posters, lithography, wooden rackets and other amazing pieces.

So far I'm thinking it can work beautifully in posters and in huge sizes.

Lots more work to do. I'd say this is the first game of a 5 set match.

Play!
