The Demographic Drought

"The Demographic Drought", is a 40 page report from Emsi Burning Glass examining data surrounding declining population growth, and the implications for education, businesses, and communities.

It was published in May of 2021, on the front-end of the wave of labor shortage stories. The findings have been covered by major news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and CNBC.

I was super honored to spearhead the design for this project. Art direction was the trickiest part, because the tone needed to be urgent, but not overly alarmist or dark. A series of editorial illustrations was used to carry the reader through the narrative, and special care was given to the presentation & visualization of data.
