Easy-Peasy: Design for Social Good

Here are my designs for the dedicated mobile app, Easy-Peasy: Healthy Recipes for Kids.

Project Overview and Goals:

Prompt: Design a a cross-platform tool to help kids learn how to cook healthy food.

Research/Solution: I began by researching the existing market and seeing what options were available for a tool to help kids learn how to cook healthy food. My research showed there was a small amount of apps designed for kids. Most desktop websites aimed at kids were indirect.

I created user personas, interviewed my target users and came up with some ideas through ideation exercises - Crazy Eights. I took on board feedback from fellow colleagues on my lo-fi wireframe and then went on to test this in a moderated usability study.

The concept was to create a dedicated mobile app with strong branding, Easy-Peasy. I used the mobile-first philosophy and made sure that when adapting to larger screens the content was consistent and complementary to the mobile app.

Outcome/Goals: I received positive feedback from my usability study participants, most of whom said they would use the app. Moving forward, I want to improve the UI by re-designing the bottom bar and adding more features such as an account and upload photo option.
