Dark UI Design System

I'm sure by now most of you are used to seeing dark mode options across your various devices. In 2019 Apple released a dark mode option with the iOS 13 update. Dark mode is also called, "Night Mode" or "Dark View", this dark mode is a color scheme that uses light-colored text, icons, illustrations, and other UI elements on a dark background. This trend became increasingly popular in 2021, to name a few big brands that have influenced the adoption of dark mode: Facebook, Google, Instagram, and Apple.

The aesthetics of the dark color theme can influence the feelings and emotions of users, for example, dark colors can give feelings of sophistication, edge, and modern elegance to users. Not only does dark mode look edgy, but studies have shown that dark mode can be easier on the eyes. Giving users the option to switch to dark mode can help encourage users to stay on sites longer since this will reduce eye strain and fatigue.
