NNWM Vintage Logo Makeover

I'm currently working on a poster for The Night of Writing Dangerously, an annual fundraising event benefitting National Novel Writing Month.The event's aesthetic is always noir/art deco, so my poster is in the style of vintage noir film title cards.

Because of this context, I also wanted to remake National Novel Writing Month's logo into an old, golden age movie studio mark. Many of the early studios seemed to want to convey gravitas/classical artistic import (probably to legitimize their nascent industry), and I thought the existing shield and viking helmet were very convenient when beginning to build the look of the"old", grander mark. Now if I could just figure out why the actual logo has a viking helmet...
