Secret Pride

Ever feel rejected? 😞

Being in the LGBTQ+🌈 family, means that I do 😞. Everyone's coming out timeline is their own. A lot of "my family 🌈 " is in the closet and that's okay. No one should feel ashamed for keeping their pride under their shirt. This illustration is for those who aren't ready to be out yet.

Showing your LGBTQ+🌈 pride, even with small acts of kindness, is a beautifully wonderful, thing.

My partner and I have matching 1/2 symbol tattoos. For a long time, I wasn't comfortable using her pronouns. I was afraid of losing my job, family, and friends. So, instead, I replaced "her" pronouns with "my other half." I didn't wear shirts showing my pride, but I was still "in the family 🌈." I wasn't ready, yet.

And when I "came out," I lost family and friends.
Being out and visiting my small hometown, I get "the look". The one of utter contempt and disgust. And my mom, bless her heart, has called my partner "my friend" so many times, I have lost count. But, I still believe in the good.
