hygge holidays

Every year we do a holiday themed card that we send out to friends and family, and this year I went Nordic with the theme (thanks to my 2% Norwegian blood I discovered from one of those DNA kits šŸ˜‚). Being that it's been quite the cozy year as we all hunker down at home, I went with the theme of hygge. Picture a crackling fireplace, a nice blanket, a good book, and that right there is the meaning of hygge.

It's always fun working on these sorts of passion projects, and even better when my wife and I get to team up and collaborate on something. I spent a lot of time finessing the stag, and went through many iterations. You'd be surprised how challenging it is to get the lines and curves looking the way you want to. I wanted the negative space between his (or her) chin/snout and antlers to form his (or her) face. It's no easy task getting some of these proportions and lines right.

Anyway, we finally did get these printed in gold foil. I've been saying I wanted to do it for years, and we finally followed through, but judging by the cost for the amount we have to send out, next year will absolutely be a more limited run...

I'm heavily considering selling these on Etsy, as I think it's a clever concept that consumers would buy into. Let me know your thoughts and if you're vibing with this hygge state of mind.

I'll post shots of the printed cards once I have them in hand. I can't wait!
