Custom Icons | Process

Our latest custom icon project with Blocknative was too fun not to share. We're here to take you behind the icons with some sketch footage, and tips & tricks. 👇

We start each custom icon project on paper (or in this case, on iPad.) This allows us to let our ideas flow and not get caught up over the details. The concepts were sketched and recorded in Procreate.

Then we bring the files into Adobe Illustrator. From here, we lock our sketch layer and draw over the image with vector shapes and paths. During this step, you can find us being best friends with grids and the align panel. 😉

A challenge with this project was working to visually center + align the icons in their circles.
