Moon Illusion Explained- Ponzo & Ebbinghaus Illusions.

It's hard to find people who doesn't love the MOON and haven't heard the lines of poem in their childhood books or from their mother's or grandma's about moon. But no matter how many poems you hear or read, moon is so naughty that he never comes to earth to meet his lovers.

Not only that, the moon but deceives us every day. That deception is so intense that to this day we have not been able to solve its mystery. Well, without further ado, I will highlight the infamy of the moon today. It also has a beautiful name, 'Moon Illusion'.

Well, when the moon is along the horizon, that is, when the moon rises, did you notice something well? The moon looks much bigger, but looks much smaller when the moon moves overhead. If the moon is at a certain distance from us at that particular time, how can it be so small or big? This is called Moon Illusion.

Honestly, the answer to this question is still unknown to us. Since ancient times, many great philosophers like Plato, Socrates and many other scientists have been looking for answers to this question. But their failure can be called.

Even then, 3 possible answers have been given, not to mention that no scientist has been able to agree on these answers.

So let's meet with the answers to this question:

In ancient times it was thought that our atmosphere is like a lens. So when the moon rises, it shows the moon in such a big way in front of us, but this device does not survive in the wash. Because the atmosphere is convex, our atmosphere would be smaller than the moon. But the opposite is happening So this argument has already been omitted. And if you measure the moon, you will always find the same size. The moon is no longer big or small This means that optical illusions are responsible for this phenomenon of the moon. But which one? Let's talk about them too.

Ebbinghaus Illusions: In this illusion, we see two objects of the same size in different sizes, which are due to their surrounding objects. If there are 4 big books next to a pen, then the pen will look much smaller, but at the same time if there are 4 small rubber with a pen in another place, then the pen will look bigger than the previous pen. Although the size of the pen 2 is actually one 6 This is basically called Ebbinghaus Illusions.
So the moon can look big in the same way when it is on the horizon because there are a lot of plants, bilge. So for this reason the moon may seem relatively large. But when the moon goes over the head, these plants no longer have a building. So in fact it is also wrong Because pilots, sailors and many others who work under the open sky have said that they too can see the moon on the horizon. But there is no plant building. So? So this illusion is not effective for this problem.

Ponzo Illusion: Have you ever taken a picture? Everyone draws more or less. Draw the auction. What do you do when you take a picture of a village? Show the near things big and the far things small ৷ In the case of two houses of the same size, even if the distance is more or less, I do the same thing But the size is the same. It takes small and big to say before and behind You can also think about the railway line. If you look at the railway line, you will see that the poles at the front are comparatively smaller than the poles at the back. But if you can measure, you will see that the two pillars are actually equal. This is called Ponzo Illusion.
