everythingoes - illustration spread

For one of my illustration classes in college I had to make 3, two page illustration spreads. These illustrations could be under any theme we wanted, but had to include text. The theme I chose was this: Illustrating song lyrics from songs I find comfort in. I decided to illustrate lyrics from one of my favorite artists, RM (Kim Namjoon) from BTS. As his lyrics are in Korean, I found credible English translations of his lyrics to include in the spreads.

The lyrics in the spread are from everythingoes - RM and NELL, from his album titled “mono.” “It will pass someday. For sure. Certainly. Pray this wind will pass like all winds do.”

These lyrics inspired the illustration, hence I imagined what wind might look like if it were visible, and place a figure gripping onto it. A majority of the illustration is hand painted and hand drawn using posca paint markers, acrylic paint, and ink. I then scanned it into Photoshop, touched it up a bit, pulled it into Illustrator and finished it off by placing the type where I wanted it to be.
