Divine Dumplings Visual Identity

We were hired by a Toronto-based digital restaurant to create a brand identity, print and digital applications for their launch. The inspiration for the identity came from the story of the semi-historical Chinese monk, Budai, who allegedly lived in 10th century China.

His name literally means “cloth sack”, which refers to the bag he always carries. Legend has it the Budai’s bag is always filled with goodies and never empties! His jolly nature, humorous personality, and eccentric lifestyle has made him a favourite figure who is known to bring good luck and wealth to everyone who crosses paths with him. We like to imagine that his bag is filled with out of this world delicious dumplings!
