DailyUI #025 - TV App

Hi Dribbblers 👋

This is my #025 #DailyUI design.

Design Hint 💻 - Design an app for a smart TV. What type of app is it? What are the features/controls? Does it have a carousel selection feature? What is it?

The Idea 💡 - The idea for today’s UI design is a TV streaming service app made for smart televisions of the sort. The design will feature bold iconography, a simple yet intricate text layout and a royal colour palette.

Final Thoughts 🧠 - It's aesthetic, sleek and simple. Designed for TV screens of various sizes, my design is catered to all. The bold iconographic buttons to the left of the design makes for a nice ease of use to do various interactions (Home, Search, TV, Movies (selected), Watchlist and Settings) with the app using a TV remote / controller, they also make overall app navigation easy to glance at. The profile picture above the icons would be a way of seeing what user account was logged into at the current time. I had chosen a royal (Purple) colour palette because my theoretical app would use shades of purple for its primary colour. The colour Purple also stands for royalty as an emotional reaction for many places around the world, and I wanted my app to reflect that statement, so I did. The layout of the important text was my main focus when designing this UI, because IT IS the most important piece - I went for a simple, minimalistic approach of laying out each piece of information starting from the title downwards, making sure everything was aligned to the T. Underneath the "resume" and "add to watchlist" buttons is a downwards-arrow, which would lead the end user to an array of related movies in the style of cards, filling up the majority of the screen, while leaving about a quarter of the top for the currently selected movie art (in this case Spider-Man) to be displayed. Overall, I am quite pleased with this DailyUI design, I got some real user reactions to this design too; they said what are you watching on (implying that they thought I was watching something on an actual real streaming service, so my design clearly works, haha). So yeah, it's been a pretty chill and proud day.

As always, I welcome any feedback! 😄
