Testing out sign up / sign in split buttons for Cotton Bureau. We think the bottom one won.

Like a lot of these but agree that the bottom wins.

Although, I think that it ultimately will come down to seeing it action on the page.

The bottom one looks a bit like a toggle - personally, I prefer number 3.

I agree with Jordan above. Bottom looks too much like a toggle. If there's some HTML5 animation involved, it works; otherwise, third down is best.

    My personal belief:

log in + sign up = YEP.
sign in + sign up = Nah.

I'd go with any of 3-4-5. #5's my fav I'd say. Bottom one could work if you toggle and change state of a layer or such. It looks too much like the iOS7-default toggle for it to be anything else than a toggle. Btw, I love Cotton Bureau!

Definitely number 3. Both buttons are visually separated, easy to recognize and the "Sign Up" still stands out the most. As @Tyler Galpin said, "Log In" would be even better.

Thanks y'all. Seems like #3 might be the one (and that we need to think about "Log in" instead of "Sign In").

Ever think of a single sign-in/up button, so if credentials match they simply are in with a single click target? Heard about that idea at a UX talk during Philly Bar Camp last weekend.
