Working on a number of simplified assets. Playing with negative space and 4 colors. It's tricky.

This is really beautiful @Justin.
This looks amazing @Justin, cant wait to see more. :)
I don't know if it screams Whiskey to me, looks like its just water. Still amazing work!
Agreed with @Rocky Roark —I think some more specific detail in your glass, especially the style/thickness of the base, would help. Great work though! And the 4 colors looks great
@Rocky Roark Yeah, it's tricky to imply the actual drink without showing the color. I think it's a lot more clear in full color: http://dribbble.com/shots/1302176-Whisky-GIF/attachments/181739
@Justin Mezzell love it... then i saw the colour version and I loved it more. Grat work.
awesome, love the simplicity
I'll take mine neat...like this graphic.
I LOVE the full color version!
Also, do you think the level of the whisky should rise up and down as the ice cube bobs?
Oh, totally. Good thinking :)
The nerd portion of my brain thought this was an animated PS1 memory card
I really like the way you used the negative space under the ice cube and the animation is sweet. I know a lot of distilleries here in Scotland sell "Nosing glass" to drink whiskey, maybe that could help sell the whiskey idea more?
This is awesome dude...loving the tone of the 4 colors. My suggestion would be to maybe enlarge the ice. To me, that could really help to establish that liquid as whiskey since its more common to have a smaller amount of liquid and larger ice cubes. Just my two cents. The full color version definitely helps.
Great concept! I do agree with some of the others that it looks more like water than whiskey. Something about the blue color scheme and the near filled glass gives it that vibe.
Perhaps if there was a little less liquid in the glass and a bigger ice cube? I've never seen someone sipping on whiskey with a glass that full before.
It's really tricky to create the desired image/imagiantion with only four colors - but you managed it just great @Justin. I agree with @Melissa and Rocky - some tweaks and there would be no more doubt about it being Whisky.
Very cool Justin. Do you use Photoshop's animation tools to make your gifs?
Guess this is done in after effects, @Robert, but I might be wrong, the basic features in Photoshop are great was well, use them a lot. :)
Yeah @Axel Herrmann I like them, but of course I'm always looking for a super lazy way of doing things. And I just know theres some app out there built just for this that can facilitate my lazy drag and drop mentality :) I just have to find it!
