Antwerp is known throughout Belgium as "de Koekenstad", which could be translated literally as "the City of Cookies". She owes that nickname to the many chocolate and confectionery factories that used to be located in the city centre until the 1960s.
I was asked to design the visual identity of a project that aims to promote this rich history, as well as the current value of the city in that field. We chose to use mid-20th century aesthetics because that's when the heydays of Antwerp's chocolate and cookie industry ended.
