DARA: Logo Redesign

When DARA first reached out to us, redesigning their existing logo was the first thing we did. This doesn’t seem like anything you’d write home about, and it would have been just another Monday at the office, if it didn’t come with a twist—we had to keep 80% of the logo as-is, not disturbing the core concept and elements.

“But it’s still just a redesign. How hard can that be?” you say. Easy-peasy, right?
No, not really.

The challenge was integrating the existing version of the logotype into a new visual foundation that blends DARA’s traditional values with a modern look. Add to that the “maintaining the essence of the previous logo” part of the project and you’ll begin to see where we earn our pretty branding pennies.

The solution: iterations, brainstorming, some proprietary branding strategy, and voila! A resurrected logo in all its freshly baked glory! … And now you have a pretty good idea where most of those pennies go after we cash our advance.
If you’re wondering where you should go after reading this, go take a look at the attachments! where you’ll find a detailed presentation of the logo redesign process, as well as some sweet sugary goodness—the kind you put on a cake, like the one we’ve mentioned in our previous shot! Enjoy!

That’s about all we have to say about DARA, but it’s not all we have to say. We’ll be posting a few very special shots soon, so make sure you don’t miss ‘em!

In the meantime, stay well and stay safe! Unless you’re working on some radical new designs. In that case, throw your Cintiq to the wind and go nuts—you have my permission. Not my admission of liability, though, so maybe throw something else to the wind, instead of expensive electronics you use to make a living.
