Running Scared
This was originally for an article in the NY Times Op-Ed section for a piece about the future of chemical warfare. It seems appropriate for the situation we are in today, although we face an airborne threat of a different kind in Covid-19.
I work back and forth between traditional media and Photoshop a lot. Subjects as grave as this one allow me to be more experimental, for example, suggesting ink washes and charcoal smudges in conjunction with my usual Speedball 101 inking nib and digital colors to create a heightened psychological response in the viewer.
