In more complex web / tablet apps, executing some tasks in the background brings productivity benefits, because users don't have to wait for something to end and can proceed with other things.
They should be continually informed about new events with status bars / notifications, to plan what to do in the meantime.
Power users are able to do many things very fast while server processing can take some time. In these cases, our status bars would pile up on to of each other. To prevent that we can put them into a neat container, expandable on demand.
This is an example of a status container for the eCommerce inventory tool, showing incoming notifications / statuses grouped into one clean form.
